Post covid predictions for the longer term
The future economy is now a lot easier to predict. Covid has exposed us to a new way to work. We are very similar now to the early 18th century, when the East India Company was taking off. Britain is no longer in the EU. It has no restrictions on what businesses with capital can or cannot do. These are not necessarily good or bad, but they do provide huge opportunities for legal and financial experts globally. They also provide a huge opportunity for decent use of video advertisement for the services required to make this transformation happen.
Here is a list of things most companies who use offices won’t require in future:-
- No offices are required as most people can work for home
- No office staff in the UK are required; why pay more than £9 per hour when you can pay £3.99 a hour for an Indian to use speech to chat facilities online? Only fools invest in expensive phone lines when the internet is far more convenient and it can operate 24 hours a day, with many more ‘chat’ takers, including automation for some aspects
- Companies can do away with middle managers: who needs UK based management when your workers are in India?
Why not China, Singapore, Africa? India is simply the most high tech lowest cost combination.
Return to a Feudal Order with technology and a global workforce
When one rubs out the middle class so that only top and bottom classes survive, that’s like returning to a new feudal order. If you link that to travel restrictions and the way people operate with each other, that’s much like making people into serfs, bonding them to their geographic area.
The middle class of mainly female office workers was built upon an office based organisation, call centres and administrators. Who needs them in the UK when there are so many issues with working from home for employers? For example, insurance? If they have an accident at home whilst working insurance is a problem. That could mean to litigation.
In this new feudal order banks will start to repossess mortgaged homes as the middle classes fail to find new employment. Those legal and financial experts that are well advertised will prosper in these circumstances as they will be the only help available in many cases. Those who rely on word of mouth or a bland website will fail to expand and keep up. Capitalism is dog eat dog. No-one cares about your business if you don’t. It’s either get with it, or go down like the SS Titanic.
What’s the impact on Solicitors & Accountants?
Solicitors and accountants will not be immune from this trend. Who wants to live the longest? The super rich. Why? They have more to lose. They won’t be visiting your or meeting your representative. Their business goals are on the move. They can now afford to shed offices, do away with middle managers, and move their contact centres abroad. Along with this will go their tax affairs. You’ll need to keep up or die off. Your clients will be looking for the firm that tells them from first contact on their website that you are right for organising this new offshore operation: cheap labour, no tax, and liberation. Borders will mean nothing in the world of bitcoin and block chip technologies.
How can you attract these new customers?
Websites that are bland, textual and such like are a real turn off now. Want people want is to add a face to your business. There’s only one way to do that online: video. Well made film level quality video will make your business stand out.
